2026, 23 October, Modica | Lorenzo Carmassi at Prospettive Urbane 2026 (Urban Perspectives 2026)
On Friday, 23 October 2026, the Auditorium Floridia in Modica, Sicily, will host Prospettive Urbane 2026 (Urban Perspectives 2026), dedicated to Rethinking the Historic Centre: Urban Regeneration, Heritage Enhancement and Climatic Comfort.
Originally launched by Coldwell Banker Maxi Real Estate in 2025, the initiative is curated by Andare S.r.l. and brings together representatives of public institutions, professional organisations and experts in architecture, urban development and cultural heritage.
The event features the institutional involvement and support of the Municipality of Modica, Fondazione Teatro Garibaldi di Modica, CONFRESTAURO APS, the Council of Notaries of Ragusa and Modica, the Order of Engineers of the Province of Ragusa, the Order of Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects and Conservators of Ragusa, the Order of Chartered Accountants and Accounting Experts of Ragusa, and the Provincial College of Surveyors and Graduate Surveyors of Ragusa.
Lorenzo Carmassi, architect and Delegate of the President of CONFRESTAURO APS for Sicily, will deliver a lecture at 17:00 entitled:
Restauro e rigenerazione: conservare il patrimonio, costruire nuove possibilità (Restoration and Regeneration: Conserving Heritage, Creating New Possibilities).
Drawing upon the research and professional experience of Carmassi Studio di Architettura, his contribution will explore the relationship between architectural conservation, the transformation of historic buildings and the regeneration of historic urban environments.
The lecture will address the importance of understanding architectural heritage as a living resource, capable of accommodating contemporary uses and evolving requirements while preserving its historical identity, material authenticity and spatial qualities.
The conference will also address broader questions of urban regeneration, institutional cooperation, climatic comfort and the sustainable future of historic city centres.
