The CONFRESTAURO conference “Restauro, riqualificazione e cura del centro storico di Ragusa”, conceived and scientifically coordinated by Lorenzo Carmassi and held in Ragusa, Sicily, on 25 September 2026, received significant coverage in the regional, local and specialist press.

The conference brought together architects, researchers and heritage specialists to discuss the relationship between restoration, architectural design and the transformation of the historic city. Particular attention was given by the press to the participation of Raymond Bondin from Malta, an international expert in cultural heritage and UNESCO-related activities, and to the event being held under the patronage of the Italian National Commission for UNESCO.

The press coverage highlighted different aspects of the conference: the protection and transformation of Ragusa’s historic fabric, its relationship with the UNESCO heritage of the Val di Noto, the role of architectural design, and the contribution of research, materials and new technologies to contemporary restoration.
